A few years back, Pope Benedict created the Ordinariate for disaffected Anglicans that thought that their religion had strayed from its Apostolic and biblical roots. A number of Anglicans made the move, but many more that have these concerns stayed within the communion. Perhaps they still had hope that the Anglican communion might return to its roots in Christianity.
Well, just in the last few days, any and all hope in the Anglican communion should have dried up if the statements of two of its most prominent leaders are the gauge.
Read the very sorry story at the Register. As always, I appreciate your support over there.

You over-react. Tutu no more represents Anglicans than Weakland does Catholics. And the Catholic Press Assoc awarded Weakland a medal!
As for the ABC, he is not like the Pope. His authority is that of a manager, not a leader. His statement is bone-headed, I agree, but I'd argue so was JPIIs opposition to the Death Penalty and exaltation of Balthasar's "Hell is Real But Empty" shtick. Our leaders are not infallible, and are very, very susceptible to the spirit of the age. The Pope is protected by ex cathedra, but as the exhaust themselves reminding us, they have used that twice in the past 150 years! As for gays and Heaven, Ratzinger said in hislast interview book we can "hope" most every single person, except for the truly bad, make it to heaven. That is not so far past what Tutu said in the final analysis.

The See of Canterbury has been empty for hundreds of years.

The Anglican communion continues its downward spiral. A few weeks ago, I saw that they're going to have an outreach to the pagans, not to convert them, but to integrate them unconverted into the church! It will make for some interesting church services to say the least!

The holy father created the Ordinariates for "groups of Anglicans" to transition from Canterbury to Rome. The bishops however have made the effort into a one-at-a-time drizzle which includes a hundred-page application process for priests. I for one have been waiting for over 2 years for the Vatican to even respond with a yes or no.
It appears to be a sham.
