I don’t even know where to begin.
Newsman Don Ennis became transgender, split from his wife, and had hormone therapy. He, now she, took the name Dawn.
Later, Dawn had a bout of transient amnesia. When she came out of it, she looked in the mirror and said…
He thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.”
ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn.
But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don.
“I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing me up in a wig and bra and making fake ID’s with the name ‘Dawn’ on it. Seriously,” Ennis wrote in an e-mail to friends and colleagues Friday, explaining his shock after he woke up from what he called a “transient global amnesia” last month.
“It became obvious this was not the case once I took off the bra — and discovered two reasons I was wearing one,” he said, referring to his hormone-induced breasts.
“I thought it was 1999 . . . and I was sure as hell that I was a man,” Ennis said in the e-mail titled “Not Reportable, Very Confirmed.”
“Fortunately, my memories of the last 14 years have since returned. But what did not return was my identity as Dawn,” said Ennis, who had been wearing lipstick, skirts and heels.
“I am writing to let you know I’m changing my name . . . to Don Ennis. That will be my name again, now and forever. And it appears I’m not transgender after all.
“I have retained the much different mind-set I had in 1999: I am now totally, completely, unabashedly male in my mind, despite my physical attributes,” he said
For me, this is the takeaway line.
““I’m asking all of you who accepted me as a transgender to now understand: I was misdiagnosed.”
Who here thinks Don is the only one?

I got startled looks when, after a friend's emotionally struggling granddaughter declared herself gay, I said "Being gay is real popular right now."
Our culture is encouraging these experiments, to the detriment of many.

I found his e-mail BS, sorry. He just used his capacity to write to hide his BS behavior.

And yet, if someone had said "well, maybe you should take a step back and go through a little counselling before you declare yourself a woman," they would have been declared a hateful bigot.

I wish the person, no matter what name or gender we see, the person is always a 'human' first, so, I wish the person who we (and he/she) have identified as both male and female, and as both Dawn and Don, the absolute best. I'm sure this experience has been difficult, as I am learning each life experience (and each trans experience) can be. I just hope this one person's experience 'does no damage' to the transgender population. What it's like being transgender here in Kentucky: http://www.hunginthemiddle.com

I'm with Proudhillbilly. Reading the news these days you would think 98% of the population was LBGT instead of the other way around. Regardless, Don Ennis needs our prayers, but then aren't we all in need of prayers for some reason or other? We ALL have a cross to bear.

Just too bizarre. Whack jobs on every corner.

The immense loss that transgenders endure when they finally transition should not be underestimated. That some choose to return to their previous lives and live with their disorder in the closet is understandable. It doesn't take much to realize that.
Wishing for peace and accepance for all.

I feel bad for the guy. Just like a feel bad for all of us who struggle with something. But the answer is not to cater to the problem or to enter into it. One must overcome their problem. We all bear our cross and walk a hard path. We must care for and support each other by not permitting someone to enter more deeply into their disorder, addiction or struggle. God love this person and all of us.

Transgenders are exactly like the people who think they're Napoleon, or the people who think they're elves or werewolves. Seriously, how are transgenders one bit different from Otherkin, except that it's still socially acceptable to tell Otherkin they're nuts?
Plainly we should all "self-identify" as Native Americans and get some federal funding, maybe build a casino. It's "transphobic" to assert that the physical reality of blood-quantum should trump how we feel deep inside!
