We went to stay at my mother’s house in New York last week. On our third day there the kids wanted to talk to their mother on the phone. The ten year old got on and told her that she noticed that somebody had packed the wrong toothbrush for her and that she had her toothbrush. We’ve had the new toothbrushes for about a month now.

“Somebody packed the green toothbrush instead of my purple one,” she said, outraged.

Then her face crinkled up in confusion for a moment. “You packed it?”

“So the purple one is actually yours?” she said, her eyes widening. “Oh. That means all this time…I was wondering why it was always wet.”

Everyone was laughing too hard to hear the rest of the conversation.
