You see, now if you talk about abortion or gay marriage you’re going against what the Pope said. That’s the prism through which some in the media are viewing the Pope Francis’ comments. So you see, accordingly, those who are silent on abortion and marriage are better Catholics.
Check out this vid where Chris Cuomo hammers away at Bill Donohue of The Catholic League.

Chris Cuomo should not presume to know what God wants of Bill Donohue. He obviously doesn't get what the pope says either.

Bill Don Donohue is so true!
September 23, 2013 at 3:47 pm
Oh good grief.

It begins.

This is political theater. Not meant to inform or educate, but entertain. It was a verbal spar. If the host was interested in discerning the Popes message and brought a prominent Catholic voice to help us understand, they interaction would have been different. The arrogance with which the host presumes to 'speak with authority' over this matter rather than discuss with his guest, is why media doesn't matter anymore. In fact after watching this, I feel the world lost an IQ point.

The Holy Father has given the anti-Catholic left a hammer with which to bash faithful Catholics. I am discouraged and scandalized.

Donohue's smile is not typical in these situations. I think Cuomo warned him beforehand what Cuomo would say. Donohue picked up perhaps 10K for the appearance. Add that to his easily googled salary which is that of a brain surgeon, and he probably ate at Daniel afterward. The Pope does want the mystical prioritized not denunciations but denunciations iand anger s what pays big in Catholic big media….Corapi followed by Donohue.
September 23, 2013 at 9:56 pm
PS….Donohue is not a brain surgeon really but takes that amount as his salary at the Catholic Defense League.

Bill Donohue has a BUSINESS to run and that business pays him $400,000/year if he bashes gay people in the media. That's how he makes his money. I'm sure he's furious that the Pope himself told him to give it a rest.

This is the fruit of Pope Francis. Pope Francis is a bad tree.
September 23, 2013 at 11:18 pm
Pat,
He's trying to figure how out how he can bash and erupt in wrath …and be the Pope's spokesman at one and the same time….amazing.
September 24, 2013 at 1:16 am
Prat, the Pope said nothing of the kind. Maybe find someone else to read you the news? Or ask them to paraphrase (I assume in one-syllable words?) more carefully, they probably figure giving you a text verbatim is a lost cause.
September 24, 2013 at 1:37 am
Pat, the pope said no such thing to Donahue.

They totally edited out all of his responses.

Those of you who love Donohue. Do so without sending him money. I don't remember John the Baptist making 400 K a year for displaying your anger. Donohue discovered that people send him money to embody their anger. He's laughing all the way to the bank. Love him yes. Fund him, no.
September 24, 2013 at 1:46 pm
I'm going to send Donahue a thousand bucks because he enrages heretics and apostates.. The exact same people Crist enraged!
September 24, 2013 at 3:01 pm
@Bill Bannon: John the Baptist was a hermit. Hermits don't make much money, do they, genius? Donahue is a civil rights agent, and a think-tank scholar, his salary is hardly unusual in that industry.
Plus, Abe Foxman at the Anti-Defamation League makes $532,378 a year, and if you think anti-Semitism is 1/3 more pressing an issue in the US than anti-Catholicism (do you even actually know what Donahue does for a living?), I'd like to know if all the laws of physics are the same in your home universe.
September 24, 2013 at 3:27 pm
To the pseudonym using posters…try real names….the abusiveness and fake donation tendency will shrivel.
Catholic Cardinals are not hermits, write very well and make $69K a year. Can you point us to a Donohue article that exceeds Cardinal level by a multiple of 5.797….the multiple of his salary over theirs.
September 24, 2013 at 4:23 pm
ps. John the Baptist was not a hermit but actually a baptizer and preacher with followers.
