Religion should be as illegal as racism, says actor Chris O’Dowd. And we should all listen to him because he’s an actor. I mean, if appearing in the movie Bridesmaids isn’t criteria for a public bullhorn then what is?
Hey look, Bill Maher may retire someday and need someone to fill in. It would appear Mr. O’Dowd is auditioning to step in.
The Corner reports:
Religion will eventually be widely held to be as reprehensible as racism, predicts actor Chris O’Dowd. He also speculates that President Obama only pretended to adhere to Christianity to get elected.
“I mean, you really think that Barack Obama believes in God? No way!” said O’Dowd, who is known for his roles in Bridesmaids and Girls. The fact that Americans wouldn’t elect a nonreligious president is proof that “we’re f***ed,” he said in a profile with British GQ.
Overall, O’Dowd expects that humanity will come around and begin to denounce religion as a view as objectionable as racism.
“There’s going to be a turning point where it’s going to be like racism,” the Irish actor said. “You know, ‘You’re not allowed to say that weird s**t! It’s mad! And you’re making everybody crazy!’”
O’Dowd said he used to respect others and their faiths, but has since started “growing less liberal” towards those who practice religion. “I’m more like, ‘No, religion is ruining the world, you need to stop!’”

Well, Obama's Christian, at least for now, but he's not an *orthodox* Christian…I would suggest he go read Bk. II of Plato's Republic. Glaucon's treatment of justice in the parable of the perfectly just man is what would happen if religion did not exist, which would be the case if there was no God. (Because of sin…) Humans give in easily, and justice and goodness are not worth it. Remember that charity is an infused virtue. We cannot attain it by our own efforts. If God didn't exist, or if Catholicism in some way was not true, I'd have quit a long time ago.

Haaahahahaha, hahaha!
Being from So Cal, I found that particularly funny!
Chris who? Very happy not to recognize the name, let alone the face.
On St Paddy's Day,
In all good intention, beggin' ye pardon, mr o'dowd, sir, whoever ye may be. Might try slobberin' all over the "blarney stone"! It could loosen the millstone ye've got caught around the tongue!

Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Church:excerpt from
Jefferson:
"Believing
with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God,
that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the
legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I
contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people
which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus
building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this
expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of
conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those
sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he
has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

I've never heard of him. He must not be *that* important.

Who?
I mean, I know who he is, but only by accident. He's a nobody whose biggest claim to fame is a bit part in a movie in which the most well-known scene is a bride defecating all over a custom-made wedding dress in the middle of a busy street.
But I do believe his opinion will one day soon be held by a significant percentage of the population.

Mack, as usual, your astute insight has struck pay dirt, to the heart of the matter!
Are they nuns masquerading as glorified "teachers", social workers, group organizers, glee club participants, or cheerleaders, hiding behind the authority of the church. If I find they cook their meals in a boiling cauldron….Putting it out there. Oh, lemme' guess! They wear secular clothing, read quotes from Mahatma Ghandi and proverbs from zen budda. Everything is relative and all religions are equal in standing before God. Even to such a degree that the Holy Catholic Church does not contain or possess any exeptional or extraordinary grace or blessing to merit heaven. That all their work is filter from a very opaque, narrow feminist lens.

A sad, but true, statement. God help us all.

And every single one of them knowing that they are an "induhvidual" who thought it all up for themselves and not programmed by years of television….

I think this commentary by St Thomas speaks correctly upon the state of the soul of this actor, esp. the last paragraph.

Many today, are of the mind that they are at the progressive edge of some evolutionary development. This is clearly refuted by St. Thomas writing 800 years ago while drawing on a tradition three times older (at least!) than that. The modern libertine/progressive/permissivist is, in fact, not new but old. In Christian baptism, the Old man is washed away and the New Man is put on.

Insightful man. He is right that the world is rejecting religion. Specifically, Christianity. He is right it will get name calling status that rivals racist and racism to suppress dissent and inherently silence Christians. He is right that Obama was pretending. That is a no brainer. The only problem with his predictions is that he aligns himself with satan. Who also rejects Christianity. He invented Islam to systematically murder Christians and Jews. And secular culture. The message of secularism is so schizophrenic that self objectification of women who hate being objectified is now empowerment. Go figure.
