Last night, there was some kind of protest at the US Supreme Court over the Court possibly overturning Roe. The surprising thing is who else showed up. A small (but very loud) contingent of LGBT for Life and Atheists for Life arrived to yell and sing.
Hey, if you ever complain about Church music you should hear this atheist music.

But I am glad to have their support for this crucial issue. I’m not sure I understand it completely, especially with the atheists for life. I mean, in the end, where does the value of life derive from, if not a loving Creator? But I cheer them on because opening one’s eyes to the worth of life can be the kickstart to a full conversion.
I think in the end, if we can stand together on this one issue it gives hope to the country. I mean this in very real terms. I still remember that the Rev. Jesse Jackson showed up to protest Terry Schiavo’s death. He’s said and done a lot of things I disagree with but I’ve always appreciated and respected that he did that, despite most on the left criticizing him for it. But this country would be far different if we could come together on the issue of life.

The logic of atheists being pro-life actually makes sense. If this is all there is, and there’s nothing else, then abortion deprives that child of everything.

Excellent point, Matthew. Thank you.
I have know an atheist or two and, they are terrified of death and will go to any length to prolong their lives.
If there is nothing after we die, why be so fearful?

Besides gratitude, magnanimity in victory may be the most important response to this unexpected act of Divine Mercy.
It took time and effort to dissuade some people that treating another human being as property was wrong. Getting some to think of the unborn as human beings will also be a challenge.
Rejoice and be humble! We may just have avoided becoming the next Sodom and Gomorrah.

Abortion has never been a religious issue though there are many faithful who protest abortion. This is why you get people from every walk of life in DC every year protesting RvW decision of ’73. Believers and unbelievers alike. I’m not sure why the ” LGBT for Life” crowd is pro-life but some how I wonder if they think in the near future abortions will begin to decimate their ranks. Think about it. People find out their unborn child has Down’s and many times that child is put to death in the womb. Why? Because parents don’t believe the child will have a good life, a productive life and parents can’t see raising a child who ‘may’ have a hard life. What if science finds a way to determine if an unborn child will develop gay tendencies in his or her life? What if the parents do not want that for their child? Should potential unborn gay children be terminated at whim by the parents because they want a better life for their children or do not themselves want to deal with a gay child?
It’s not that far fetched, seeing that children are now being aborted for practically any reason. Even as far as 4 weeks after birth in California. If abortion is good for even one child no matter the reason, then any child can be aborted no matter the reason.
