Is Chuck Todd really saying that the evils of Communism shouldn’t be taught? I think anytime one system racks up 100 million deaths in the past century, it’s worth cautioning the kids about it. If we’re not teaching them that, what are we teaching them?

Wow… I’m glad he’s ensuring we teach about a political system that failed on such a gross level to provide safety, stability and well being to its subjects in EVERY situation it was tried in, every location and every age. It’s not politicizing if you’re teaching about POLITICAL systems which failed in such a gross manner.
This is why I don’t watch/listen to the mainstream media. I choose to read my news and stop reading an article when I hear buzz words like that.

And do not use trans-gender as there is no such thing. Do not use the word gay either in the context of a same sex attracted person. It is called homosexual.

This has happened before.
I was in high school in Florida in the mid 1980’s. At that time, the legislature had mandated a one-semester “Americanism vs. Communism” class for all high school students. The NJROTC instructor described the Korean War and the Vietnam War, giving particular concentration on the contrasting way the Koreans and Vietnamese Communists treated prisoners, and we also learned the difference between the Politburo and the Supreme Soviet. All of that was good, but we basically ran out of material and ended up watching “Red Dawn”, which our teacher took seriously. Sorry, even the original movie was utterly stupid, although perhaps better than the remake.
