So you’re complaining that companies are not exploiting this crime as a publicity stunt? Or do you think that “NAPA Auto Parts stands with the victims of the recent school shooting” would REALLY be more about the victims and less about “Shop at NAPA. We’re good folks”? Maybe you want Walmart to sell you (for a minimum of $15) cheap ($5 to produce) shirts from Bangladesh with some kind of witty “zinger” about this shooting?
“Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.” In corporate America, that reward is PR. No American company has done an almsdeed within your life without blowing a trumpet with the expectation of being honored by men. I suppose we all prefer the mercenaries who fight on our side (for pay) over those who fight on the other side (for pay), but it is very foolish to respect or trust anyone who fights merely on the basis of who pays more money.

If you’ll pardon me for saying so, I think you missed the point. The point isn’t that he’s mad at companies for not going for a publicity stunt, but rather it’s a commentary on the state of our society.
Companies know that they get brownie points from the general public for coming out in support of whatever special group has victim status according the the left, and receive the wrath of modern cancel culture if they don’t. But no such expectation exists when violence is directed against Christians.
It goes to show that in the minds of the majority of left-wing America, even if they wouldn’t say it outright, violence against Christians is understandable, or even acceptable, and that’s why you don’t see the PR office of any major company rushing to condemn this violence.

Whether a company is or is not exploiting this crime isn’t the issue in this post but the double standard that is obvious when it comes to what companies feel is the pulse of the culture. Christianity is at the bottom of the totem pole and companies know this so why rile up the left woke by siding with Christians and feel the wrath of the anti-christian and lose revenue or worse? Who the heck cares if companies side with anything? I certainly don’t. And I don’t care if they side with us or not. Fact remains, it just shows you the double standard employed for revenue by companies and not stirring the pot of the anti-christian hate and getting cancelled or boycotted by showing empathy for Christian victims. Christians today are the hot potato.

I actually prefer companies not to charge me more so that they can be “charitable”. Give me good prices, then I’ll have more money in my pocket with which I direct the donations myself.
You say this is about a double standard, but there is nothing new in that. My point is that having these companies as weak and untrustworthy “friends” is probably less desirable than having them as open enemies. Back around 1990, if you took your kids down to Mickey Mouse World only to find it was “gay lovers’ day”, you could reasonably claim that you had been misled. If you take your kids there today, that’s your own fault. It doesn’t matter whether companies today worship money, political power, or sexual perversion; it only matters that they predictably do the devil’s work.

I never said there is nothing new in a double standard. And no one advocated having them as “friends. I’m pointing out that this article was about double standards, new OR not.

Everyone has read things that in the final analysis wasn’t worth reading yet we continue to do so, even you do. Solution? Don’t read them.

Admittedly, I have never liked corporations getting involved in ANYTHING. I prefer they sell coffee (or whatever) and shut up about their politics and social commentary. I think this occurs in the corporate mind because we are all about identity. We ‘identify’ with more than gender, etc. as is trendy now. We identify with the brand of clothes or where we buy coffee. Therefore, these entities have delved deeply into social influence to push that identity. I prefer they sell products at reasonable prices so their employees can live decent lives and consumers arent exploited so a company can appear “charitable” or socially conscious by donating $. Charity is my job, I dont expect it from a for-profit entity.
