Former president Donald Trump and the leading candidate for the GOP nomination next year, is expected to turn himself in to authorities next week after a New York grand jury indicted him in connection with a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels made by his former lawyer Michael Cohen.
These charges were earlier dismissed by a federal court.
Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has announced that he will not assist in any extradition issues. “The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” DeSantis, who is seen as Trump’s top rival in a potential 2024 GOP primary, tweeted after news of the indictment broke.
Welcome to Banana Republic status, folks.

So we WEREN’T a banana republic when we had a president who paid hush money to a porn star, because (as the talking points say) it isn’t illegal in New York to pay hush money to a porn star. But we ARE a banana republic when this same president is indicted; it doesn’t matter that it is not illegal in New York for a grand jury to return an indictment against a former president, because … reasons.
Oh, and the people pushing this bit about how innocuous it is to pay hush money to porn stars style themselves as conservatives, even “cultural conservatives” or “religious conservatives”.
I think you were asking for a picture that says America is doomed? It’s hanging above your bathroom sink.
