That’s truly what he said. This is not hyperbole. He thinks people are too hard to govern and therefore the first amendment must be done away with.
You’ve got to watch this. Every sentence out of his mouth makes it worse.
John Kerry calls for a Ministry of Truth:

Spoiler alert – he means your free speech, not his.

Is the information the problem? Really? As B-XVI once said, we don’t want teachers, we want eye witnesses. Well we’ve got over 300M eye witnesses to sift through to get to the bottom of something, but who’s going to say what it is that’s been seen?
In a non-confessional free democratic republic like ours, one is free to speak the truth… as long as it’s not the truth. That’s the conumdrum, and why it’s so hard to govern, governor.

Kerry is a private citizen, just like you or me.
The more he opens his mouth, the more obvious it is that he never should have been anything more. That, however, is an observation of long standing.

“Kerry is a private citizen, just like you or me. ”
You’re right, but that’s where it stops because there is nothing else remotely close in relation to us. He is not an elected entity . Why he is given the time of day I’ll never know.

All I meant was that, in addition to having no current authority, Kerry is pretty useless, even for his own side. I had the impression that he could at least schmooze, which is a lot of what is expected from a secretary of state. That ability has nothing to do with being smart, let alone a good person, but it is an important political skill. Hillary Clinton could not do it, either — her anger and bitterness are too much on display — but even SHE was a better secretary of state than he was.
