Look, I don’t know how to tell you this without your brain trying to evacuate through your tear ducts, but the president that oversaw the eradication of Roe v. Wade may have just turned his back on pro-lifers.
We all celebrated when the administration cut off funding to Planned Parenthood.
But yesterday with all the grace of a drunk grizzly bear trying to do a backflip, the administration just handed Planned Parenthood $65 million.
Here is why the pro-life world feels like they just got backed over by the wheels of the White House:
The Big Backtrack: After freezing the money to “investigate” Planned Parenthood, HHS just went, “Just kidding!” and cut the check. Not just the current check, but back pay. They literally paid them for the months they weren’t even allowed to have the money. It’s like firing a guy for stealing your car and then mailing him a gift card for gas.
The “Flexibility” Routine: While the ink was drying on that $65 million check, Trump told House Republicans they need to be “a little flexible” on the Hyde Amendment. If you’re a pro-life activist, hearing “be flexible on Hyde” is like hearing your pilot say, “I’m going to be a little flexible on the concept of ‘landing gear.'”
Pro-life leaders are reeling from the “massive betrayal.”
Trump is still asking pro-lifers to trust him. But that’s getting harder and harder.

He also told pro-lifers to be “flexible” on the Hyde Amendment and proposed an IVF mandate that would have been a hell of a lot worse than a contraceptive mandate.
This dude has never understood the pro-life position nor cared about it, and I am relieved that people are finally starting to wake up to it.
His real legacy on all of this will be helping the GOP establishment realize that they do not have to keep listening to pro-lifers in order to win elections.
