A few comments on the current discussions regarding Cardinal Dolan and absurd insinuations of pharisaism.
The pharisees were hypocrites because the law had not changed their hearts. The pharisees had law without love. God’s law, properly understood, has its genesis in love. Law without love is useless.
Today some would have us believe that in order to love, we must discard the law.
Yet, no matter the skill by which the axioms of law, the precepts of morality, the Holy Canons and religious dogmas are clouded by senseless questions and elaborate arguments, God’s love is in the law. You cannot have one without the other.
Today’s pharisaical tombs are whitewashed with smiles, hugs, and false affirmations of love.
