There’s a new villain in town. And it’s Judge Neil Gorsuch. While there’s always partisan tension around the naming of a Supreme Court nominee, expect this one to make the left bananas.
Already, Democrats are talking about a filibuster. But that’s just wasting time. Democrats will now take part in a character assassination, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Clarence Thomas. Expect it.
Please remember, abortion is the central unifying factor of the party. And they think Judge Gorsuch is an enemy of that.
The SBA List, one of the best pro-life groups in the country released a statement, saying:
President Trump has made an exceptional choice in nominating Neil Gorsuch to carry on the legacy of the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. In nominating Judge Gorsuch, President Trump has kept his promise to nominate only pro-life judges to the Supreme Court.
Judge Gorsuch is a distinguished jurist with a strong record of protecting life and religious liberty, as evidenced by his opinions in the Hobby Lobby and Little Sisters of the Poor cases, and in his doctoral dissertation in which he wrote that ‘human life is fundamentally and inherently valuable.’
In the coming days, we will mobilize the pro-life grassroots nationwide and in key Senate battleground states to urge the Senate to swiftly confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Should pro-abortion Democratic Senators choose to filibuster this immensely qualified nominee, they do so at their own political peril.”
As a judge on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, Gorsuch forcefully dissented from a case in which the Tenth Circuit sided with Planned Parenthood and refused to allow the Governor of Utah to defund the abortion business in wake of videos showing its involvement in the selling of fetal organs. Judge Gorsuch sided both with the plaintiffs Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor in their First Amendment lawsuit against the arbitrary conscience infringements wrought by Obamacare. He has also written a book called “The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia” in which he argues that “human life is fundamentally and inherently valuable” and that “the intentional taking of human life by private persons is always wrong.”
Those words are a harbinger of calamity for the abortion crowd. For Planned Parenthood, when the SBA List is happy, they’re worried.
So you think that the outrage over Trump’s refugee executive order was ugly, you haven’t seen nothing yet. Expect the media to do the Democrat’s dirty work. And the thing is, they’ll not only dig deep into Gorsuch’s past, they’ll put everything decision he’s made into the worst possible light. Expect lots of “war on women” rhetoric. Expect talk of back alleys. Expect accusations of racism. This is going to get ugly folks. Buckle up.
