The Daily Caller points out that “It didn’t take long for the Monday knife attack at Ohio State University to turn into a gun control rallying cry.”

Yeah, that happens.

But the craziness around such an event leads to mis-reporting. So I understand thinking it’s a gun attack when it’s a knife attack. And I get that libs are gonna’ lib. Never let a crisis go to waste and all that.

But what drives me crazy is this handwringing we’re doing about motive. I mean, here’s what we know. He was a young Somali refugee named Abdul Razaq Ali Artan. He complained in the school newspaper about there not being enough prayer spaces for Muslims. He complained that he was being stereotyped as a terrorist by the media (which is a joke.)

Here’s how NBC reported it:

Law enforcement officials told NBC News the suspect’s name is Abdul Razaq Ali Artan, an 18-year-old student at the university. He was a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident of the United States, officials said.

He attended Columbus State Community College for two years, graduating cum laude with an associates degree before moving onto Ohio State to continue his studies. He told a campus publication that on his first day at OSU, he was “kind of scared” to pray in public.
“If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen,” Artan was quoted as saying in the Lantern.

The motive for his attack was unknown, although law enforcement sources said he posted a rant on social media prior to the incident. Officials said the attack was clearly deliberate and may have been planned in advance.

I understand that they can’t definitively state a motive but they could easily add a quote or two in from some folks who are knowledgeable about terrorism. It’s not like this kind of stuff hasn’t happened before.

The thing is, it’s stuff like this that made Trump president. People are so sick and tired of feigned ignorance and handwringing. I’m sick of it. And you know what’s coming next. We’re going to be told it’s not terror because he was a lone wolf. I’m always amazed that that’s supposed to somehow make us feel better. It’s actually worse if you think about it.

Lone wolves don’t require a paper trail, they don’t have to be communicated with by foreign sources. One day they’re your neighbor and the next they’re…going all lone wolf. To me it’s scarier.

I know it always comes down to this but if this were a Planned Parenthood employee that got shot, there would at least be speculation about crazy violent pro-lifers, right?

And it wouldn’t be so bad if it was just a media stupidity thing. It’s not. This kind of thinking has possessed many of our politicians. The problem is that it costs lives. We’re still letting in all these refugees because we can’t admit that a small number of Muslims want to run people over with their cars and stab them or shoot them. We know this. But we are supposed to pretend we don’t know this. And we’re not supposed to say it.

So should it be any surprise that the people finally had enough and voted in a man who says exactly what’s on his mind, who doesn’t measure out his words with teaspoons.
