This is clearly one of the most important political battles of our time. And we’re losing. It is a horror to realize this but we’re losing.
We’ve worked for so long to get Roe overturned and the issue sent back to the states. But now that it’s back in the hands of state voters we’re losing ground. That means the protections of life are diminishing.
But why?
For one thing, in the recent Ohio vote on needing a 60 percent vote for amend the constitution, the “pro-life” side under performed. Big time.
According to the WaPo: “Fifteen counties that voted for Trump in 2020 opposed the Republican proposal to raise the bar for passing constitutional amendments, while 66 counties that supported the former president voted in favor of Issue 1. All seven counties that swung for Joe Biden toed the Democratic line and opposed Tuesday’s ballot measure.”
Look, when we lose in Vermont and California I get it but we’re losing in Michigan and Ohio. That’s bad news.
But Ohio isn’t done yet. The upcoming vote to actually amend the Constitution is coming. But given what we just saw we have no reason to think we’re going to fare better.
We must change things up.
Here’s the thing. Ohio saw 3 million voters come out to vote on this issue. In 2020, Trump himself received over 3 million votes.
So we’ve got a get out the vote problem.
We also have a money problem. Money came in from all around the country for this and the pro-life side was beaten badly in terms of numbers. Millions upon millions poured in for the other side.
Pro-lifers need to donate, raise money, and vote like lives depended on them. Because they do.
