Matthew Dowd, the former GOP Political consultant who turned into an ABC political analyst, just tweeted out what is perhaps the stupidest tweet I’ve ever seen.
You ready for it?
I am Catholic. Being Christian is a state of being. Practicing love. Some of the most Christian folks i know in life are atheists.

IKR. Instapundit rightly responded that “Christian isn’t a synonym for nice.”
I actually think this is more common than we might think. I think for a while now, even Christians have confused being Christian with being nice. But that’s not how I read the gospels. Being Christian doesn’t mean being nice, it’s being loving. And love sometimes means hard truths. Christianity doesn’t being a door mat.
And this view is pernicious because it essentially takes Jesus Christ out of the equation. So now you can be a Christian without following Christ. But that’s the thing. You can’t. There is no Christianity without Christ. Sorry for the hard truth. I guess I’m not being nice.
