I have noticed that other Catholic bloggers get all their props while I toil in obscurity. Other bloggers get invited to bloggers conventions or on radio shows, get mentioned in news articles or even get to appear in movies. Heck, I half expect to see American Papist guest hosting “American Idol” any day now. But me, I get none of that.
Now I will admit that I have had my moments of doubt. Am I a non-celebrity because I am boring? Am I not sought after because I am oafish and offensive? I began to wonder if I would be required to look deeply and honestly at my own flaws and thus be forced to grow as human being and as blogger.
Fortunately, it did not come to that. After reading this very enlightening interview with “Texas Chainsaw” actress Jessica Biel, I have come to an entirely different conclusion. The reason I am ignored by everyone with taste is that I –Am — Too — Hot!
That’s right. I realize now that it is my impressive good looks that are holding me back! Jessica tells us that being so good looking is a turnoff for people. Who knew?
Is being too good-looking really a problem for an actress?
“Yeah, it really is a problem. I have to be blunt.”
If it can happen in Hollywood – it can happen in the Catholic blogosphere too. I am so glad I read this today, I almost signed up for a scrap-booking class.
