Americans traveling to Canada for treatment and especially pharmaceuticals is FAR more common.
Your Ireland anecdote actually seems to support the argument for a public option because one Irishman chose to have private insurance and the other chose to go with the public plan.
Also, 30 years ago, the USSR may not have had great gov't insurance and they currently rank #130 on the list I linked to in the last post. But today, the 36 countries that rank higher than us in healthcare ALL have government-run healthcare.
The one and only reason the public plan would cover abortion is because 90% of private plans also cover it.

And so? Do two wrongs make a right?

No, but I have yet to see any screaming hordes calling for the lynching of the CEO's of Aetna, Wellpoint, Cigna, etc. for funding abortions.

Craig, the difference between a company allowing it's clients to choose an abortion for themselves and a government forcing all citizens to pay for all the abortions in that country must escape you.
As for the example of my Irish cousin, you didn't get the point that the private sector works much more efficently than the government. Since B.O. is on record as wanting nationalized health care it's a safe assumption that private companies will be driven out of business.
You continue to cite the USA as being 37th on a listing of countries and the quality of their healthcare. The 36 above all are government run system. What about those countries following the USA, are any of their health care systemts run by the government? Correlation doesn't equal causation, you'll need something more definetive to prove the ranking would improve with government involvement.
This will be the last comment to you on this particular post. It's gone too far down the page for my tastes, I'll not be coming back to it.
One final word, get help for your racist tendencies. Your denigration of white people in your initial comments is disappointing in someone who follows a politician that promised to move this country beyond considerations of race.
Really, you need help.

How strange it is that you think its OK for all of the insurance companies' members should pay for abortions, even if they are pro-life.
As far as the Irish cousin, you don't seem to understand the meaning of "public option". If the public option sucks and you can afford private insurance, why would private companies be driven out of business?
Also, if you watched BO's speech tonight, he is not even willing to mandate a public option be in the reform bill, so why do you think he's looking to nationalize healthcare?
I won't dignify your concern with my racism with the response it deserves since you say you won't be reading this post any more.
