A new study recently appeared in the peer-reviewed Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. The authors of the study sought to discover the answer to the question: “Does abortion reduce the mental health risks of unwanted or unintended pregnancy?”
Not only did they find that abortion does not reduce mental health risks but actually the study indicate that abortion may be a mental health risk.
The study concludes:
There is no available evidence to suggest that abortion has therapeutic effects in reducing the mental health risks of unwanted or unintended pregnancy. There is suggestive evidence that abortion may be associated with small to moderate increases in risks of some mental health problems.
Here’s the thing. So often we hear talk about how a mother needs to abort her child “for the health of the mother.” And included in that is the mother’s mental health. But that entire argument is undercut with the findings of studies like this which show mental health problems actually increase due to abortion.
It’s up to sites like this one and others to get the word out on studies like these. Countless women have been so damaged because they believed the lie that abortion is a consequence-less act. We need to promulgate the truth. Women deserve to hear it. The thing is that you know even after this linkage is proven, pro-aborts will simply say that the reason abortion leads to mental health problems is the fault of pro-lifers making them feel guilty.
Have you noticed that? The fault always lies with having standards of morality. When it comes to stories like Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic, pro-aborts say it shows that we need to make abortion less restricted and regulated because regulations drive up costs. Ah yes, all those regulations that were so strictly enforced that the state hadn’t inspected Gosnell’s clinic in nearly two decades.
You see, life would be so much better for everyone if there were no standards or morals whatsoever. It’s the morality that’s harming women, not abortions.
