Yeah, they picked a song that had “Africa” in the title which was written by a white band who had never been to Africa before. Even Toto’s lead singer thought it was a bad idea. “If I had been asked for sync approval, the answer would have been a decline,” song co-writer David Paich said.

You know it’s not like the continent of Africa doesn’t have music. No, they have to bring in 80’s white guy interpretation of African music. I wonder if some Jamaican dignitary dies, maybe CBS could play some UB40.
