The New Lord of the Rings Show on Amazon is said to be the most expensive show ever. One thing they’re leaving out is Tolkien. Yup. This is all about diversity, representation, and wokeness.
Fidelity to Tolkien’s vision is not even on the radar of the people making this show. This will be a Game of Thrones ripoff filled with political skullduggery and strategizing. What it will not be is a representation of good vs. evil and bravery vs cowardice.
This whole thing is sad. We all know it. I just hope it dies a quick death.

Honestly I would have been more surprised if this was not a woke piece of trash. When I first heard that they were going to make it into an Amazon series, I figured they would make it based on today’s woke ideology verses how Tolkien wrote it. That is why I have not paid any attention to it up to this point.

It’s the usual apologists who want to eclipse the original, purge the original, and then claim this new work is the only correct version.
Naturally, Critics are simply racists and reactionaries rather than thinking people who actually read the texts and put into cultural context.
Every historical work has to be re-written and ‘corrected’. Cultural warfare is the norm these days and like a lot of consequence, everyone has to have a piece of the pie to assuage the inferiority complex.
It’s a remarkable if unsurprising fact that modernists talk about Norse tradition discussing dark dwarves and elves. That’s given as a ‘see! Told you so!’. But they pointedly neglect the fact that they are typically malicious and evil. They neglect the Tolkien references to black men with white eyes and red tongues that were with the Southrons against Gondor.
Original literature means nothing to apologists of revision. The only thing that matters is ‘rehabilitated literature.’ It’s not that diversity is bad, the wildly successful comedy of blazing saddles was and still a jewel. But of course, that’s intolerable too.
The consequence? Like claiming any dissent is racist, after a while people just shrug and say ‘yeah, heard that before and all the time. So what. The revision is still garbage.’
