I’m assuming this is because his “non-compete” clause with Fox News says he can’t make a show with a broadcaster or he loses millions.
So Tucker is not going to another network. He’s taking his show to Twitter. Elon Musk points out that no deal was signed. Tucker will just be putting his show there and getting ad revenue.
On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said.

This will be interesting. We do live in interesting times.
In the past two weeks stalwart brands like Budweiser and Fox News have taken massive hits. And those hits are from regular Americans who just aren’t taking it anymore. This is a good thing because this puts some fear out there from the sane people. The elites should fear us. We are not sheep.
Getting back to Tucker, his announcement has NBC News worried. Who will police Tucker now?
NBC’s reaction to Tucker Carlson’s Twitter show announcement: “Will anybody be able to police what Carlson says or is this the point? It’s just a free for all?”

Tucker should not be censored at Twitter and that is a good thing so it seems to me an improvement from his situation at Fox News. Bug Light is scared. Fox News is frightened. Tucker is free.
Smells like victory.
