I’m cool with this. I can’t wait. 2025 can’t come soon enough. Mel Gibson is one of the greatest filmmakers today and I trust that he’s giving this movie everything he has. I’m expecting nothing short of brilliance.

I wish he would hurry up though because I’m pretty sure the end of civilization is coming up on us soon and we’ll have to watch this movie projected onto a cave wall. Either way, I promise to bring the popcorn.

World of Reel: The rumor was that Mel Gibson’s ‘Passion of the Christ’ sequel would be split into two parts and its IMDB page now states it that way. The current title is “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection – Part I.” There’s also a 2025 release date attached.

YIn a July interview, Jim Caviezel (who plays Jesus) spoke about the sequel, and claimed that it’ll be split into a few movies:

I asked him [Mel Gibson] would you be ready to go in January, he said “yeah, maybe.” I said “how about the end of fall,” he said “yeah, maybe.” So who knows […] it might be two films, maybe three, but I think it’s two.

In another interview, Caviezel used hyperbole by saying the ‘Passion’ sequel “will be the biggest film in the history of the world,” adding, “Mel [Gibson] took me through all of the scenes and I was on the floor crying […] it’ll be one of the best things you’ve ever seen. I can’t tell you [when it’s coming out]. If I told you I’d have to kill you.”

Back in January, I had heard that Gibson was finally, very close, to shooting “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection,” a mid-year shoot had been planned. Now we’re looking at production possibly starting in January in Mexico.
