The large Irish-American family rallied around Senator Edward Kennedy after he drunkenly drove off a bridge with his secretary in the wee hours of the morning. He swam to safety. She didn’t. He got out and instead of calling emergency services he gathered family and friends together for a way to talk their way out of this messy little “dead blonde” problem.
Boy did those Kennedys rally around Teddy after that.
But now RFK Jr has done something far worse than kill a secretary. He’s endorsed Donald Trump. And the family has disowned him publicly. #priorities.
Kill a woman? Let’s strategize!!!
Endorse a Republican? I’ve gotta’ turn my back on you.
This is not a family. This is a political gang.

The same thing occurred to me, but you put it so much better, of course.
To humiliate and disavow your own flesh and blood is a terrible thing, no matter who is right and who is wrong. As the British Royal Family is discovering.
I don’t think I would have ever voted for RFK, Jr. He strikes me as a bit flaky and I simply don’t know that much about him. But I do sympathize with anyone whose family turns their backs to their own and who does it publicly, with insults.
Not a good look, Kennedys.

I have to (partially) disagree. It’s sickening how often the high and mighty have one set of rules for others, and a significantly more permissive set of rules for themselves. The stupid thing Dan Quayle said was not missing a misspelling of potato, it was saying that he, who was so anti-abortion, would support his daughter unconditionally if she chose to have an abortion. I think also of Dick Cheney, who was so willing to throw out natural law and basic common sense because his own daughter became a lesbian. If the Kennedy family thinks supporting Donald Trump is wrong for everyone, they SHOULD NOT make an exception because cousin Bob has done it.
They’re not wrong in thinking it is wrong to support Trump, for that matter. Trump is “yugely” problematic, as we see from how he has destroyed the GOP forever as a friend to the pro-life movement. Don’t kid yourself: the pro-life plank is never coming back. Neither is the pro-family plank. It’s all taxes and international policy for the GOP now, and to heck with the USA. Trump is even opposed to states being “too harsh” in restricting abortion, and that means all his lackeys and boot-lickers are, too. But the Kennedys are wrong in supporting Harris, who has all of Trump’s flaws, and in greater measure, along with some that are all her own.
