This is pretty amazing. Dr. Scott Hahn pulls together the Old and New Testaments brilliantly here.

Numbers 22:31 “Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face.”
So this was one man’s eyes, not “their” eyes, but the point is that the two examples he connects are not the only places where someone’s eyes were opened.
2 Kings 6:17 “And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
1 Chronicles 21:16 “Then David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, having in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem. So David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.”
This is much the same idea.
