Hip hip hooray! A hurricane is coming to cause death and destruction during the Republican convention. This is a taped conversation between former DNC chairman Don Fowler and Rep. John Spratt (D-SC). “The hurricane is going to hit New Orleans about the time they start,” Fowler laughs. “The timing is, at least it appears now, it will be there Monday. That just demonstrates God is on our side.”
Just imagine how this conversation between two Republicans would play. It would be on every news program.

Didn’t a bunch of Christians pray Barak’s speech would get rained on? How would they have viewed it if that had happened? Is it so crazy that those on the other side see something on the opposite weather events?

Yes – ALL democrats are praying for the hurricane. Please. If you believe this that is sad. Don’t judge the entire party on this youtube video.
Republicans may be viewed as the moral party. But I think the only issue the republicans are above the dems in terms of morality is abortion. They certainly don’t seem very concerned with the poor.

I thought it was only the evil Republicans who wanted to see destruction of cities by hurricanes. This changes my whole world-view. And, uh, Randy, having Obama’s pathetic speech rained on would have been funny – really funny now that I think of it. If (when? – God forbid) this hurricane makes landfall on a gulf coast city it will not be funny. I will pray for them today. Kit

Oh, yeah, the Dems are real compassionate, as long as it’s with other people’s money. Namely mine. Well, we’ve given billions to programs that have not reduced poverty, and a generation of people have come to depend on handouts and won’t help themselves. You think that’s compassion? I think it’s stupid.

But getting back to this clip. What the Dems are more likely hoping for, is that Gustav will divert the news channels away from the convention. But you’re right about how it would spin if Republicans said it.

No. They were not thinking of it as funny. They were thinking of it as a sign showing God is Republican. Just as silly as these Democrats seeing this as showing God to be Democrat. It just seemed a little smug to claim moral superiority because of it.

I know, Randy, you are probably right about what they were thinking and I know what you were saying. That was just me who thought it would have been funny. But there is still a big difference between some sad, soggy Democrats and a major catastrophe. I think we(conservatives)are ok on this one. However, I think it’s wrong to pray for bad things to happen to others. I am praying that McCain-Palin will win. Of course, by doing that I am also praying that Obama-Biden will lose. Can’t help it. May God bless us all and may the best man (and woman) win. Kit
