Dear Media, please correlate this picture with how “out of touch” Pope Benedict XVI is. As you are losing viewers and readers by the thousands, perhaps your “out of touch” accusations are simply a case of Freudian transference. Seek help now! Maybe if you ordered your reporters to be celibate, you could keep growing like the Church.

According to CWN, the the largest single gathering in the country’s history joined the “out-of-touch” Pope at the Mass.

That’s is what I said the other day on Twitter and Plurk. Hundreds of thousands of out-of-touch young people attend Mass celebrated by the Pope of the out-of-touch Church.

As a Sydney Catholic I can confirm that this is the largest single gathering in Australia EVER!
Ironically the very week before the local Aussie ‘mega church’ “Hillsong” held it’s annual conference. Usually notable for gathering thousands to Sydney from over Australia, the conference was dwarfed by the hundreds of thousands of Catholics gathered in Sydney this week.
And this was a relatively small World Youth Day (being so far from most of the world)!

When I saw that picture, I thought “surely this must be an Obama rally!” Glad to see all the wonderful youth.

The WYD picture posted above made me think of another huge event: the funeral for JP II. I remember watching it and seeing a) all the people filling St Peters and beyond b) I remember the various leaders/heads of state who came, which brought despised despots next to former communists etc and c) all the religious leaders from Buddhism, Islam etc.
No other leader, religious or secular could do this. No one. and this shows exactly WHO is out of touch.

The media isn’t trying to report fact, they’re trying to tell the sheep what to shut-up-and-believe about the Church.
