One of the things that I was looking forward to most in a Mitt Romney presidency was defunding Planned Parenthood. That was one thing I really thought he could do and I truly believe it would damage the abortion industry big time.
Planned Parenthood obviously thinks so too if you look at the way they’ve been fighting to keep their forceps in your pocket. And Democrats obviously believe so because they made it the centerpiece of their entire 2012 election.
I was muy worried that the results would scare the GOP from ever touching this issue again. Well, some Republicans are showing some spine and reintroducing legislation to defund Planned Parenthood in Ohio. Mad props to them. Pray for success.
The Cleveland Leader reports:
Republican state lawmakers in Ohio intend to renew their efforts to strip family planning funds from Planned Parenthood, as next week they will restart hearings on a bill that would redirect tax dollars to community health clinics.
House Health and Aging Committee Chairman Lynn Wachtmann (R-Napoleon) scheduled a possible vote to recommend passage of House Bill 298 for Wednesday during the General Assembly’s session.
The bill, which is backed by Ohio Right to Life and other anti-abortion groups, stalled last spring over concerns that it would divert funding from hospitals, which was not the supporters’ intent.
