The Liturgical Institute in Mundelein has announced a special event on October 30th with noted traditional Catholic church architect Thomas Gordon Smith. Smith teaches at the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture and is the architect of the Our Lady of Gudalupe seminary in Nebraska as well as the Benedictine abbey in Clear Creek, Oklahoma. He is also a theorist and author, aside from being an interesting and engaging speaker.

His talk will focus on “theory and practice” in today’s new classical architecture, meaning how the great Catholic and classical ideas get made into real buildings in today’s climate of budgets and theological uncertainty.
The event begins at 7:30 pm on October 30th, is free and open to the public, and will be located in the Music Room of the Theology Aula on the Campus of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Illinois. If you are building a new church or just interested to see what a leader of the New Classical movement is doing these days, come on by. For more information, call 847.837.4542.
