Ever play Mad Libs as a kid? I had a lot of fun playing it. Well, the following is a real news story. But I’m taking out certain words and leaving it blank for you to fill in.
Hundreds of _____ activists rushed out of bars and swarmed a group of _____ and some even threatened to kill the _____.
The group of ______ had never expected an angry mob would run them out. However, that’s what happened Friday night.
One woman who was attacked told her story. She said the group had been peaceful for several nights before the riot. “People would come stand with us and join us,” she said.
But then angry men began yelling profanities and warning the _____ to leave the district.
A group of men approached the _____ and covered them with a large cloth, backing them into a corner. Then the angry mob began swearing and growing larger. The bars began emptying out, and a crowd completely surrounded the _____
The worship group began singing _____ while an estimated 500 _____ advocates sang, “We Shall Overcome.”
The woman said she and her friend were doused with hot coffee. One man took a _____ from her friend, hit her on the head with it, pushed her to the ground and began kicking her. People began lunging at the _____ group, blowing whistles in their ears.
“They started saying, ‘We’re going to kill you,'” she said. “They started taking our pictures and saying, ‘We’re going to kill you. We know who you are.”
Now, as I’m sure you know this story was originally written about the homosexuals who attacked Christians in San Francisco.
But here’s the fun part. If you just replace the words “Homosexuals” with “anti-abortion activists” and put “abortion clinic workers” instead of “Christians” you could imagine the different take our culture would have on this incident. If that story were written about pro-life protesters doing this to abortion clinic workers it would be the lead news story on every program. Legislators would be screaming for new limits to be put on pro-lifers that include they’re not allowed to live in the same county as an abortion clinic. Guantanamo would be remain open and become these Christians permanent home with many more to follow.
But sadly, our culture isn’t interested in this story. Homosexuals are the victims. Christians are the oppressors. No reality must stand in the way of a convenient story line.

The homosexualists and their coconspirators will never report these tragic stories of Christians being attacked.

I may be completely off-base here, but watching the video of this event, I was struck by the manner in which the police were protecting the Christians. It reminded me of how the police protect the Klan at rallies. In other words, it seemed a bit like, yes, we know these Christians are offensive bigots, but they do nevertheless have the right to free speech. And so even though they are speaking hate, we must protect their right to say hateful things.

Thankfully, even here in Madison, WI we’ve gotten cooperation from the police during 4o Days for Life.
One officer pulled up, and we thought we were in trouble for something. Instead he just said, “Have you ever been inside? It’s really, really dark in there.”

I’ve got to admit I knew exactly what he was talking about when I read it.
