The actress Jennifer Jones, who will be forever remembered for her role as St. Bernadette in the classic “Song of Bernadette” has passed away at the age of 90. I know thatr parts of her life were troubled, but I hope that she rests in peace.
I absolutely adored Jones in her role as Bernadette. This movie, now over sixty years old, is the standard by which all such movies are measured and are invariably found wanting.

Jennifer Jones was truly a great actress. One of the movies I re-watch every once in a while is "Portrait of Jenny." She gave a terrific performance in it, along with the rest of the cast.

I SO agree with you there. THIS is why I made the negative comments about the recent movie about Fatima. As "well meaning" as it may have been, it just didn't even come close.

Sorry I can't share the same sentiments. I do hope she is resting in peace, but I can't watch "Song of Bernadette" after realizing that this movie ruined a marriage and destroyed a man's life (namely Jennifer's husband, Robert Walker).

I was fortunate enough to meet Miss Jones when I was a young research technician in a neurologic disease lab at the National Institutes of Health around 1980. She was very involved in fund-raising efforts for neurologic disorders, I believe, and thusly was taking a tour of the National Institute for Neurologic Disorders and Stroke. She insisted on being introduced by her married name, and was very self-effacing and gracious. She gave such an impression of gentleness and grace. I hope that in her later life, she found reconciliation and peace with God and with herself. We have ALL sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.

She was a good actress and also a very beautiful woman. May God give her Eternal Rest.
