Liturgical stupidity knows no borders.
Rorate Caeli identifies this tragedy as
“Misa Criolla”, performed by a Peruvian folk music group during a Paul VI Mass celebrated in the Cathedral of Pereira, Colombia (2009, “liturgical action” going on in the background).

I listened to this carefully and they are singing 1 Corinthians 13. You might not like the style, it is rather theatrical, but I agree they are off to the side, not in front of the celebrant. Looks like it may be the offertory(sp). I'm not sure. I prefer chant and more traditional music, but it's way better than a lot of Marty Haugen and not profane. AnneG in NC

I agree with Anne G. I have been to Peru and have many Peruvian friends. I go to Extraordinary Form Masses and love Palestrina, but this was beautiful for its type – haunting Peruvian folk music, with those beautiful pipes (they sound infinitely better in person than over youtube)
The Pope has written extensively about music as you know, and he likes REAL folk music that comes fom the PEOPLE.
This is not commercial Marty Haugen crapola, fer cryin' out loud. There is nothing wrong with it as an offertory song. Because I have heard so many Peruvian singers I can imagine it in perosn, and I'll bet it was beautiful. Sing I COrinthinians in the style of the people is no more mere "entertainment" than singing it in Latin.
