I have never let my children see Pocahontas because of the revisionist history…have no desire to see Avatar because I knew what it was "about". Funny that it is such a "remake"…I hope it doesn't win best original screenplay…That would be a joke.

Yep. The myth of the primitive is quite the tired formula. I gotta think someone has thought put The Last Samurai dialogue over top Dances with Wolves
And not even 70's prog bands are immune. Anyone listen to Genesis' "One for the Vine"? 🙂

The same group is responsible for the horrid First Nation nonsense at the Olympics. Read Mark Steyn's take if you want to laugh at the rot. Interesting that this clip comes out on the ssame say algore broke his silence in the NYT.

Oh, man, epic song. Haven't thought about it, much less listened to it, in years. Off to download it… 🙂

The white-man-gone-native-to-save-the-natives is a tried and true Hollywood Fable. Given the success of 'Avatar', there shall be no shortage of them in the future.

I find it eerily coincidental that John Smith, in several of these clips, is dressed all in BLUE.

And that, children, may be why Avatar was locked out of the Oscars. Hollywood really does need to get away from the Joseph Campbell School of Screenplays. Boring.
