This sounds like good economic policy. Inspiring people to become bums/artists is now entrepreneurial, according to Nancy Pelosi. So they’ll get government grants to pursue their art and free healthcare. And all you taxpayers just sit back and appreciate the work of your betters.

Pelosi: "Quit your job, we'll support you."
Nightfly: "You first, Madame Speaker."

Just what this nation needs right now. Thanks a lot madame speaker. (On a side note, are there minimum IQ requirements to be able to serve in Congress?)

So, does health care now include three square meals a day, or is Ms. Pelosi just assuming these artists will automatically apply for food stamps and/or unemployment to put food on the table? What about "artists" with families to support (are there any?)?
Wait, I forgot about state-funded day-care and public "education." Just let the state raise and feed your kids while you chase those dreams.
Way to discourage people–not to mention their kids–from actually growing up. But then, Ms. Pelosi spends taxpayer money like a spoiled teenager, anyway, so who can really be surprised?
Pelosi: "Go ahead, you artists. Do as I do! Rape the system for what you can get out of it. Be irresponsible. Go ahead and neglect your duty to your children–not to mention God (please don't mention God, ever, unless He's agreeing with me) and do whatever it is that makes you feel all artistic and special. The taxpayer has you covered–kinda like underwear, only more absorbent."

Hippies. They need to go get a haircut and a real job. And the musicians, too.

Pelosi has no idea what a working musician is. Just thinking about the musicians I know…they all work as, um, musicians, except my brother, who is a telephone systems engineer during the day, and a rocker at night (on weekends). I am thinking his newborn twins need more than healthcare. Food? Clothing? Education? A daddy with a grip on reality?

Paraphrasing a comment by GK Chesterton, those who don't believe God lose their common sense.
She lost hers long ago.

What is the larger context Pelosi's remark?
May 20, 2010 at 7:20 pm
Brian – the larger context is that she and other leftists do not believe that any of us are capable or willing to handle our own lives, and thus we elect our moral and intellectual betters to do it for us.

Okay, here I go…As a part-time musician, I have to say that I could not be a rest of the time stay at home, homeschooling mother of five without my art. Enough bashing musicians, okay? There are those of us out there who rely on our talent and learned skill to make a living at it. I'm not going out for America's Got Talent anytime soon, and I don't believe in such exploitation anyway, but I don't believe that all musicians are skummy hippies in need of a shower and shave (just ignore the fact that I have as yet to shower today and have baby drool all over me:)
And of course, Nazi Pelosi is a scum bag herself for encouraging more people out of the workforce when we're already at a 20% unemployment rate. I think I'll stick to my part time musicianhood and take over her job too, sounds to me like I could do it. And get better benefits than I would on Obamanationcare anyway!!!
