I despise the Atlanta Braves because they have visited heartache upon me in ways unimaginable when I began rooting for the NY Mets. But I must admit Braves outfielder Matt Diaz has my respect. Not the team. Not the management. Not the fans. Just Diaz.
Diaz did what needed to be done.
In the annals of baseball coolness though Rick Monday is still the man.

How about Bill Mazeroski ? Still the only man in history to win a World Series Game 7 with a home run !
Then, 11 years later, he was still on the same team when they won the Series again.
He was selected to the All Stars 10 times, and won the Golden Glove 8 times.
Career fielding percentage : .983
He holds the Major League career record for double plays by a second baseman.
The Pittsburgh Pirates retired his number (9).

The only group more active than MLB in protecting its copyright is NFL. So much for replays…
