Chris Matthews, a self-proclaimed Catholic, says the Church has an opportunity to turn around and endorse contraception. He says the Church hasn’t thought it through like he clearly has. In short, he’s hoping the next Pope isn’t Catholic.
This is the same Matthews who was honored by my alma mater Saint Joseph’s University in 2009. Watch this. Take your anti-nausea medicine.

Saw the Mystic Monk coffee ad under the video clip, and before I could banish it from my mind, thought: Too bad C.M. couldn't be "roasted by real monks," ha ha.

Marriage *should* include that physical communion years into the relationship, not just stopping after a few kids. But wait! Who is it that's still having kids 20 years into marriage (and you *know* how that happens) and who is it that's complaining that its too tiring taking care of their two kids to think about romance at the end of the day?

Wow – that did make me ill. Somehow – he and his network missed the very real data out there showing more birth control equates to more abortion. If the first method fails – which it invariably will – there has to be an escape clause for those in this mindset. Praying that these "enlightened Catholics" may be blessed by the Holy Spirit and see the beauty of the Catholic Church's teaching on this – and on Humanae Vitae! It doesn't need to be "rewritten" as he says – but rather re-examined, re-energized, and renewed!

Too bad Chris Matthes does not exercise some mouth control.

Last time around, Matthews said they wouldn't make the Grand Inquisitor Pope.
Guess what the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith used to be known as?

Just parading his ego, as usual. Nothing to see here, move along.

Matthews started taking the soup years ago.

They keep saying that we need to make contraception more common to reduce abortions. In which locality, exactly, is contraception not common?

@Mike in CT: much of Eastern Europe and some parts of Asia use abortion as their main method of birth control. So, yes, the Pill would actually be preferable to mass murder on that scale.
Which is, admittedly, like saying enslaving an enemy is better than genociding them. It's not really very impressive, is it?

@Unknown: I never made that particular connection; but…wow! It's a damn sad day for the Irish.

@SF, I'll concede your point there, but I was aiming more at the idea that the reason that abortion rates are so high (in this country especially) is because we just need more access to birth control, because it's just too hard to come by. The left likes to point out that Catholics (shamefully) contracept at the same rate as the general public, but then also try to claim that we need to push for more acceptance and availability of contraception.
