Late on New Year’s Eve, Pope Francis called a tiny community of Carmelite nuns in Cordoba, Spain. They failed, however, to pick up the phone. Hey, it’s only five elderly nuns. They don’t really do late nights.
He left them a voicemail in Spanish, saying “What are the nuns doing that they can’t answer [the phone]? I am Pope Francis, I wish to greet you in this end of the year, I will see if I can call you later. May God bless you!”
Kind of a funny story. But I guess it’s not the first time a Pope thought, “What are the nuns doing?” Just for very different reasons.
You can hear it here. But like I said, it’s in Spanish.
