PHOENIX — Police have confirmed that they have made an arrest in the murder of a Phoenix priest.
Sgt. Steve Martos confirmed the arrest Monday morning, but did not provide any information. In a tweet, he said, police planned to provide details later in the date.

Word of the arrest in Wednesday night’s violent attack at Mother of Mercy Mission came just hours before a Requeim Mass for Rev. Kenneth Walker, who was shot and killed.

A 54-year-old ex-convict has been arrested in the shooting death of a 28-year-old Phoenix priest.

Phoenix police confirmed Gary Moran, a homeless man with an extensive criminal record, was arrested Sunday night and jailed on suspicion of shooting the Rev. Kenneth Walker multiple times at Mother of Mercy Mission Catholic Church in south Phoenix on Wednesday.
