Yikes. I’d hate to be a kid in England.

The Daily Mail reports:

Paedophiles should not face jail for looking at pornographic images of children unless they are a physical threat to youngsters, says Britain’s most senior child protection officer.

Officers should instead focus on the most dangerous offenders who have access to youngsters or are directing abuse online, said chief constable Simon Bailey.

Taking a stance he acknowledged would horrify many, the grandfather-of-two said lower level offending should be decriminalised and dealt with through counselling and rehabilitation.

What he’s saying is that so many reports of abuse of children are coming in that including cases where the man (and yes, it’s typically men) is viewing child porn shouldn’t be prosecutable. He suggests counseling.

But that sounds like the crazy talk to me. If more and more of this is going down, then increase the number of officers working on it. Y’know the British are constantly crowing about how they don’t have gun violence over there so what in goodness’ name are they doing over there if they’re not investigating murders all the time like we are.

Does this guy really think that viewing child porn is some kind of victimless crime? What the what? I don’t know anything about it but I’d assume these guys are paying for this stuff in some way or another, right? So aren’t they supporting it? So…accomplices, right?

Between you and I, I don’t even want to think about why there’s more cases of this popping up. I’m preferring to think that it’s just more people reporting it than in the past. To think otherwise is just too scary.
