Teachers did nothing to stop this horror in this Clark County school in Las Vegas. This girl is beaten from behind by another girl. In the end, she seems unconscious. And what we think is a teacher’s voice, urging her to stop but doing nothing. If it’s not a teacher that meant that there was no teacher in the classroom at all, which is actually worse. This is horrible no matter how you look at it.

But then the Clark County School District released a statement that made it more horrible. They seem more concerned that the video was released. Here’s their statement:

School administration is aware of the matter and is taking this incident seriously.

CCSD investigates every reported case of bullying and takes appropriate action if needed. We are unable to discuss individual student disciplinary matters due to privacy laws. However, in general, students can face administrative disciplinary action at school or be referred to law enforcement for possible criminal prosecution depending on the severity of the matter.

We strongly encourage students and memebers of the community not to share footage of this incident or any other student fights. Showing this video serves no purpose other than to further ridicule and embarrass the victime and embolden bullies.

Any student who captures photos or videos of an assault on-campus, off-campus, on a bus or during a school activity should immediately turn the footage over to a teacher, school administrator or police. We investigate and address all concerns of bullying.

Sounds to me like they’re more concerned that they got exposed. This reaction is disgusting.

Nobody stepped in. Nobody. None of the students. No teachers. Nobody. In fact, it would seem nobody did anything until the video was released. That spurred the school district to issue a statement,. #priorities.

Exit thought: The girl doing the beating was masked. Thank goodness for that anyway.
