This is worth investigating. It could be some good people think they’re being helpful but are being used by human traffickers. That’s giving folks the benefit of the doubt.

I think this is along the same reasons that AOC called St. Juniper Serra a colonizer. He was a Catholic saint who fed and clothed natives displaced by Spanish government troops and soldiers. He tried to help people who were suffering. I see that as what the charities are doing. Sadly, even those good intentions can be exploited by gangs and those who wish to malign the good works. But I think putting those of us who have helped people trying to flee the horrific lives in one country, to be exploited in their quest for some relief is quite different than blaming the person who actually tries to offer them something. I think this is the same misrepresentation St. Serra got. But there are sad realities in that video, which was hard to stomach, that makes me want to go down there and help those people. BY the ‘reasoning’ in the video this would make me a human trafficker. That is clearly erroneous.

I think what they’re saying is that the human traffickers have infiltrated Catholic Charities and the exploitation of these poor people continues here.
