We’ve all heard the inspiring theme from the Rocky movies. It may be the most iconic of the 20th century and its still used today in sequels.

The composer of the theme Bill Conti said he found the inspiration for it in the sacrifice of the Catholic Mass.

That puts a whole new and awesome perspective on that theme.

You also might recall that that initial scene of the first Rocky movie begins with a picture of Jesus on a wall in an old church that’s been converted into a gym. The camera pans down to Rocky fighting another fighter in a ring while in the background hangs a sign: “Resurrection A.C.,” as in “Resurrection Athletic Club.”
