Heresy emanates from the lips and pen of Fr. Thomas Reese, S.J. so often that it’s tempting to ignore him. But in this case, it’s worth discussing because the number of people falling into this error is widespread.

Well…if satan’s influence was overt and obvious, he wouldn’t tempt anyone. We would run away seeing the horror as it really is. So it comes wrapped in carefully crafted plausibilities that instill doubt. Doubt is a fertile ground for evil to grow.
