I’m Catholic. Practicing. Observant. Online. And therefore my online life the past few days has been focused on the fact that Donald Trump seems to be running from us pro-lifers. He’s said he’d vote against a federal ban on abortion and even suggested federal funding for IVF. So therefore many Catholics and Christians are reassessing their support of Trump.
But then you look around as what the Democrats are saying in they advertisements and what the media is saying in their coverage and it’s like two different worlds. They’re painting Trump as a candidate who will vote to outlaw abortion and they’re accusing him of wanting to create a Handmaids Tale version of America. Yeah, the guy who ran Miss Universe is going to make women go full on Amish. Yeah, that makes sense, right?
This is insane. It actually flies in the face of reality. Or, said more accurately, it’s a boldfaced lie. Expect more because it works. The Democrats and their partners in the media have decided that abortion is the key issue in this election (and all others.) They believe that the way to win the suburbs is by scaring women and if they have to lie to do it so be it.
Pro-lifers are suspicious of Trump and pro-aborts are afraid of him. That’s just how the media wants it.
It just gets so tiring that a Christian just will never see the world reflected accurately in the news media. Everything is propaganda.

If your plan is to improve the country or even keep it from disaster by making a tactical vote, you’re out of luck. There is no hope in that direction.
Our only hope is for conversion. An unconverted Trump would be a disastrous president. An unconverted Harris would be a disastrous president. What we need is for the one who wins — and why not the other one also in the bargain? — to be converted. Now, their conversion depends on the mystery of free will and the movement of the Holy Spirit; we cannot “make it happen”. But we can pray, and we can bear a consistent witness.

“An unconverted Trump would be a disastrous president.”
Short memory. We’ve already had 4 years of Trump and I KNOW what my life was like. It was a heck of a lot better than it is now. Did he do everything right? Name me one president that has. Was Trump converted during that term as president? According to you he should have been disastrous, but he wasn’t.
You want the perfect person? Then wait for a saint to run for president. I’m not voting for a saint but a leader that has proven himself to lead this country. If he was a REAL practicing Catholic I’d be delighted but we don’t even have one in the White House yet he calls himself a devoted Catholic and is a disaster of a leader. Harris? If anyone actually thinks of considering to vote for her for president had better have the head examined. Name one friggin accomplishment he has done. Nothing, nada, zilch.
God uses who ever he wants to do his will. Who was the apple of Gods eye back in the day? King David. A man who committed adultery, got another man’s wife pregnant and had her husband killed then stole his wife. At least Trump didn’t kill anyone unless you know different. God used the King of Persia, a ruthless pagan, to allow His people leave Babylon. A PAGAN! Well this pagan also commanded his own people to give gold and silver and money to the Jews to go back home to Jerusalem and rebuild their temple.
You stay home. Don’t vote and feel good about yourself. Just remember this, we can only do what we can with what we’ve got. Trump or Harris. This country was given to us by God, where men were now free to elect their own leaders. You just sit there on your arse and don’t vote because the candidates are not perfect then you’ve thrown God’s gift back in His face. Imagine if all the good things you’ve done in this world and for others are erased because of your own weaknesses and sins. I’m not looking for a messiah. I have one already. But I am looking for a man or woman to lead this nation who already has experience.

I’m not looking for a messiah, either. I’m looking for a faithful servant. If your standards are low enough for Trump, they’re low enough for Harris.
Vote and feel POWERFUL, like you are deciding the future of America. Buy a lottery ticket and feel RICH while you’re at it. Wear a lucky shirt and feel like you made your favorite team win. Then sit on your own arse and soak in the delusion that you are the master of fate.
The problem is not even that you overestimate the effect of your one vote. The problem is that prayer is so weak to you that it is worthy of derision. Well, maybe that is true of you; if so, fix that before you worry about the mote in Uncle Sam’s eye.
If you want to vote for Trump, or for Harris, or for Kennedy, or for whoever, it really does not matter to the rest of the country. Seriously, your vote, one way or another, will not be noticed. If all the people who read this blog vote for the same person, it still does not matter, any more than if all the people who read this blog were to jump simultaneously in an attempt to cause an earthquake in China. Well, jump, if that’s your thing; it won’t do any good, but it will do little enough harm.

No one is forcing you to vote. Stay home. This is the country that was given to us by God. I do what I can to elect the one I feel will lead this country. You my friend are seriously looking for someone who will do all things right, will give God all the glory, will experience a conversion to God and be just. like. you.
” The problem is that prayer is so weak to you that it is worthy of derision. ”
Here I was thinking that God alone knows the hearts and minds of men. I guess he has a competitor. Do you not pray to be able to discern right from wrong? Between good and evil? Do you not pray to be able to make the best decision possible in very important events in your life? Well, I do. Always. I am a practicing Catholic who does not put his trust in the princes of this world, but asks God to lead me in the right direction even in elections. Are you so full of yourself to think your the only one with his head right on his shoulders that all who do not think like you should be stoned? Yes, that is how you come across. When I pray I do not begin by saying “Hail Outis, who art in heaven.”, but direct my thoughts to our Blessed Mother.
Tell you what. Do us all a favor and go find yourself a little humility. It just might be beneficial to you. This discussion has come to an end. I have better things to do in my life. Like pray. Try it sometime. It really works.

And yet I can’t help notice: I’ve heard more than one person say they are not looking for a messiah, yet they are as angry at hearing Trump criticized as a Muslim who hears Mohammed mocked.

Ok, if you want to take the abortion issue out of the hands of the individual states what you want is not a ban but a constitutional amendment. A ban can be undone by any future President or congress so it really is a waste of time.
We do not need the legislature to end abortion, we need the people to end abortion. Until the country gets a moral compass it will not happen.
