means I often give the benefit of the doubt to the pope.
Being American means I don’t often give the benefit of the doubt to the president.

This whole thing needs to end. I’m not happy about this ‘spat’ their having. I know that the Pope needs to speak up for peace. Of course he does but he went beyond that. Giving opinion and not Catholic teaching and the result is dividing Catholics. And Trump. He”s always been a blowhard but gets results. He’s always been abrasive and we all know that. And everyone knows he punches back if he gets attacked. Diplomacy Holiness? We had discussions for the last 49 years with Iran. Our Marines get blown up, they finance Hamas who continued relentlessly to throw missiles after missiles at Israel as well as Hezbollah who the Lebanese do not even want in their country, the Houtis who have to show themselves as powerful by firing missiles at ships in the Gulf while all shouting Death to America and refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist.
Yes, there are politics in Rome. It would have been much easier to swallow all this crap if David Axlerod had not gone and met with the Pope, then the 3 biggest liberal Archbishops in the United States were given a platform on 60 Minutes then the Pope criticizes Trump? All within a space of a week or so? Coincidence? As I read in an article, what would happen if Trump had merely said, “Pope Leo, tear down your wall around the Vatican!, Where is your voice for all those young Christian girls in Nigeria kidnapped, raped, forced to marry and denounce their faith and continually raped as this continues with the kidnappiing of priests and civilians and killed. What about China? How’s that working out for you your Holiness?
Let Trump do the job he was elected to do and let the Pope guide the Church in faith and morals and put his energy in getting back Catholics that have left, evangelize and convert. And before you say anything else to Trump your Holiness, take the log out of your own eye and President Trump, choose your battles. This isn’t one of them.

I don’t dislike the Pope. I am a full Catholic and will follow all his teachings unless he strays. How do I know he strays? I have the Catechism. I know what the Church teaches. My confessor told me that when I hear crap from the bishops and popes, pray for them and ask God to bless them. I do. I want God to bless them. If the pope is wrong, he’s wrong. If the President is wrong, then he’s wrong.

Why don’t you just worry about when YOU are wrong and don’t worry about everyone else?
