You see, the whole edifice of Western civilization didn’t just sprout from the soil of ancient Athens or the marble halls of Rome like some secular mushroom. No. It was watered, nourished, and raised up on the radical idea that every single one of us is made in the image of something divine.

Christianity, that wild, subversive story of a carpenter from Nazareth who flipped tables on the money-changers and declared the meek would inherit the earth. Without that sacred root, the very notion of rights, those inalienable sparks of dignity, floats away like smoke. Rights without God? They become whatever the loudest mob or the slickest NGO says they are this week. Convenient, isn’t it?

Enter Amnesty International UK, once a noble watchman against tyranny, now apparently auditioning for the role of high priest in the Church of Woke. They dropped a report titled, “A Growing Threat: The Anti-Rights Movement in the UK” and in it, they branded 117 organizations, including the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, as “anti-rights.” Catholic bishops! The very people standing up for the imprisoned, the trafficked, the refugee, and yes, the right to life from conception to natural death. These folks who’ve spent centuries building hospitals, schools, and orphanages while the rest of us were busy inventing new ways to scroll ourselves into oblivion.

Amnesty’s logic? These groups challenge “core human rights principles.” Translation: If you dare suggest that a baby in the womb has rights, or that marriage is the sacred union of man and woman rooted in biology and nature’s own blueprint, or that men are men and women are women because, you know, Biology 101 and two thousand years of human observation then you’re not just wrong. You’re anti-rights. The audacity!

They yanked the report quicker than a politician deleting a dodgy tweet, mumbling something about language not reflecting their position. But the mask slipped, didn’t it? The mindset remains: Reasonable disagreement is now extremism. Defending the unborn is somehow an attack on “women and LGBT+ people.” Pro-marriage traditionalists are “ultra-conservative” (funny how there’s never an “ultra-liberal” label for those pushing the most radical social experiments). And crisis pregnancy centers get painted as villains.

Amnesty didn’t start out as the abortion-and-rainbow warriors. They stayed agnostic on the issue but slowly, methodically, drifted into the full ideological current. By the time they were taking grants from George Soros and sponsoring vulgar anti-Catholic stunts, the transformation was complete. From defender of the powerless to attacker of the Church that built the very concept of the powerless having dignity in the first place.

Think about it. When protesters storm a church service in Minnesota, terrorizing families and children, interrupting sacred worship suddenly the ones defending the congregation’s rights are the threat? In Amnesty’s looking-glass world, the invaders are the heroes, and the faithful are the oppressors. It’s inversion on steroids. The same organization that once challenged dictators now can’t distinguish between biological reality and fashionable ideology.
This is the deeper sickness, isn’t it? A civilization that forgets its spiritual foundations starts devouring itself. Rights become weapons— not shields for the weak, but clubs for the powerful to bash dissent. Without God, or at least without that transcendent anchor that says every soul has infinite worth regardless of utility or popularity, we’re left with raw power struggles dressed up as compassion. “My body, my rights” taken to such extremes that the tiniest body of all gets erased from the conversation.

The Catholic response hits the nail: They uphold the God-given rights of all humanity. The migrant, the prisoner, the elderly, the unborn. That’s not anti-rights. That’s the radical consistency that built the West.

We need to wake up, friends. Before the NGOs and the ideologues rewrite history so thoroughly that the very source of our freedoms, that Judeo-Christian wellspring of equality before the divine— gets labeled the ultimate enemy. Question everything. Especially the ones who claim a monopoly on morality while tearing down the altar that made morality possible in the first place.

Stay awake. Stay rebellious. And defend the rights that actually matter. All of them. Even the inconvenient ones.
