According to twitter, the same night, the same perpetrator painted black over Virgin Mary statues on Apparition Hill and at the Blue Cross while leaving English graffiti such as “Devil in a skirt” and messages labeling
the 1981 apparitions a fraud.
Pray for the worldwide Church. We have many enemies. It will not stop at arson, folks. They’re coming. Pray and stay strong in your faith.
Well, the purported apparitions *are* a fraud — but that cowardly freak needs to be found, convicted, and sent to prison for this criminal sacrilege.
The perp has been apprehended. He is Polish, a former Medjugorje devotee and a Catholic convert. His friend, Jan Sobierajski, a Polish Catholic filmmaker, says the arsonist/vandal has been going through really difficult and painful time in his life, and (obviously) needs our prayers.
Medugorje was a key part of my healing and conversion process in the nineties. Can attest to the piety and joy of Visca. She has no airs about her and would converse with the poor and lowly as easily as the important and powerful. If she’s a delusional fraud, she’s got me fooled
Medugorje was spared during the hellish war in the 90’s. Looking like a Protestant flavor to the vandalism, since no Catholic of any stripe would do that, nor Muslim or Orthodox, or Jew. A Protestant of some kind would think he was stopping idol worship. But just speculation. In any case, it saddens me
Well, so much for my profile. Guy needs meds and counseling. Don’t know what the jails are like in Bos/Herz, but they might be a small piece of what this guy needs. Sometimes in mental distress and delusion, a guy needs a clear understanding that, no, this, at least is a mistake. It helps delineate who’s crazy like a fox and who’s crazy
I mean, crazy like a fox will not do that again, but really crazy will not see the error even in jail
