Ok. Gandhi’s not an asshat but a lot of people who quote him are.

Mahatma Gandhi reportedly said this about Christians and it’s often (and by often I mean CONSTANTLY quoted to prove that Christians are a bunch of filthy hypocrites):

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

Yet, Gandhi also said:

“The political and journalistic world can boast of very few heroes who compare with Father Damien of Molokai. The Catholic Church, on the contrary, counts by the thousands those who after the example of Fr. Damien have devoted themselves to the victims of leprosy. It is worthwhile to look for the sources of such heroism.”

So next time someone uses the original quote against you, you just drop some Gandhi right back on them.

And don’t call Gandhi an asshat. That’s just rude.
