All this talk about ‘gradualism’ today makes me want to kick a puppy.
Jimmy Akin does a fine job at the Register saying what it is and more importantly what is isn’t.
But if you want to know how it is being misapplied in the current context, perhaps a hypothetical teenager’s note might illustrate it.
“Hey Dad! I know I broke the rules, took the car without permission last night and I don’t even have a driver’s license. I know that I endangered myself and others. But I went to confession and I intend at some point in the future to not break your rules. I have your spare keys, so don’t wait up. Gotta go!”
Yeah, no.
