A tragic ending to a sad story.
Marlise Munoz, who was declared brain dead in November, was being kept on life support because she was pregnant. But the family sued to have her removed from life support. The hospital believed it was legally obligated to keep her alive because of the presence of the baby in her womb so the family took her to court.
But a judge ruled that she should be removed from life support. And reportedly she was removed from life support on Sunday. And there’s no mention of any efforts made on behalf of the baby in any news reports.
What a terrible thing. Death and more death.
Only prayers can bring healing.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may they both rest in peace.
Mary Grace LI'l Heart, please intercede for us and remember us to Jesus. Amen.
Salve Regina!

This woman was dead. God took her to him – and every part of her. That includes the "life" attached to her body by the umbilical cord – a fetus that was not viable and was deprived of oxygen for more than one hour. To keep a cold and rubbery corpse functioning by pumping oxygen through it to support a fetus we now know (thanks to the court case details) could never have been viable, had no lower limbs (so deformed, the doctors could not determine the sex), and a brain with fluid lodged in it, is an abomination – a crime against nature.
Why do we fear death? Death is a part of life. Thank God this woman's corpse has been laid to rest two months after she died.

She did not die until her heart stopped beating and oxygen no longer circulated, irreversibly. May she and her child rest in peace.
